Those released due to COVID-19 mandates could get records restored.
As U.S. military recruitment levels are down in all branches but the Marine Corps, the Air Force and the Army have sent out letters to former service members who were separated from military branches for refusing to comply with the COVID-19 vaccine mandate. The two branches are providing guidance on having their discharge records corrected so they may return to service.
The Army’s letter states, “As a result of the rescission of all current COVID-19 vaccination requirements, former Soldiers who were involuntarily separated for refusal to receive the COVID-19 vaccination may request a correction of their military records from either or both the Army Discharge Review Board (ADRB) or the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR).”
A spokesman for the Army said, “As part of the overall COVID mandate rescission process mandated by Congress, the Army this month mailed the letters to approximately 1,900 individuals who had previously been separated. The letter provides information to former servicemembers on how to request a correction of their military records.”
